The latest trend in chat right now is Omegle/Chatroulette video chat. These two sites allow anyone, regardless of age and location to chat with a stranger selected randomly by the site. While Omegle was originally a text-chat only site but with the popularity of sites like Chatroulette is added video as well. So now you can also use Omegle for cam chat. Chatroulette was a video chat site from the get go. It starts out by asking you to allow the site to control your cam and mic. The whole point of the site is to have you broadcast yourself and to have strangers do the same at the other end of the cyberspace.
Which one is best for you is not really an issue. If you only want cam chat you should definitely use Chatroulette however that does not mean that everyone on there has a cam enabled or is actually showing a live show. Some people play recorded videos to fool others some simply disable their cam at some point. But the odds are better of having a cam2cam chat on Chatroulette than on Omegle. However when it comes to finding a date you don't necessarily need to start out with a cam conversation. You could just as well start with text chat. Keep in mind that many people do not like to show themselves to random strangers so they might not start out by using their cam by default but as you chat to them they might feel more comfortable and decide to have a video chat with you after they've gotten to know you better. So in this case you might as well try the Omegle text chat. If you are looking for a woman it might take you some time before you finally find one. So be patient and keep looking until you find one who is interested in talking to you who knows...
The problem is because the site is random and international you are more likely to meet a girl from a far and distant land than you are to meet a girl in your area. So if it's a cyber girlfriend you are looking for this might be enough however if you want to find someone you can actually have a date with this might not work for you.
The bottom line is, Omegle and Chatroulette are fine if you are looking only for random web encounters but if you want more out of an online meeting like an actual date these sites might not be what you need. You will have more luck sticking with dating sites where you can actually look people up based on their location this way you know even before you start exchanging message with them that that you could possibly meet with these people in case things go really well online.
I'm not saying not to use these sites but I am saying that you shouldn't expect more from them then what they can currently offer. If you don't put your hopes up too high you will not be disappointed. This is the reason while old fashioned dating sites will still be in business because you know what the people on there are looking for and most important of all you know where those people are located which is invaluable information when it comes to searching for a date on the internet.
